Compared to other non-alcoholic beer options, which typically have between 70 and 115 calories per can, Budweiser Zero has fewer calories per 12-ounce can – just 50. How Budweiser Zero Became an Idea
Anheuser-Busch chose to focus on marketing brewer’s yeast, malt extract, ice cream, and the intriguing “Bevo” drink when prohibition struck the US in 1920.
In order to get around the regulations of the time, Bevo, also known as “near beer,” was a non-alcoholic malt beverage with an ABV of less than 0.5%. But when alcohol became legal again in the late 20s, it became less popular.
Nearly a century later, prohibition resurfaced as the moniker for Budweiser’s line of alcohol-free beer. The recipe for Prohibition was the same as that of the alcoholic version. By boiling the beer under a vacuum, they could extract the alcohol. Additionally, a brewing technique that prevents any malt fermentation was used.

Budweiser and former NBA player Dwayne Wade have collaborated to create a new recipe for Bud Zero, which was designed and promoted by Wade.
Wade collaborated on Budweiser non-alcoholic beer’s production because he wanted athletes to enjoy it while training or in competition.

What Does Budweiser Zero Taste Like?
As I pour the beer, I see it has a tiny layer of head and a pale golden color like its alcoholic counterpart. It has great carbonation. A bit more than Heineken’s 0.0.
There is hardly much on the nose. Subtle notes of barley and paper, sometimes accompanied by a hint of hops. A predominant corny note leads to the malt smells, which intensify when it warms up. The scents of hops are flowery. The body has little bulk. Have I gone too far?
It has perhaps the mildest aroma of any beer I have ever tried, N/A or not. The scent slightly resembles the original Bud, but that’s all.
Budweiser Zero tastes almost exactly how it smells. The flavor is a bit flat. It tastes like a glass of weirdly flavored carbonated water. Very watery mouthfeel, very faint malt flavors, and a bubbly start.
Eventually, a hint of maltiness shows through, with a touch of sweetness.
