Mocktail For Kids-Ginger Lemonade
Lemon and ginger (along with honey) go together like clockwork; the honey balances the heat from the fresh ginger's spiciness and the zingy lemon juice gives a nice tart touch. When combined, you get a delicious drink – a naturally sweetened, naturally refreshing, and healthy fresh ginger lemonade that tastes great over ice on a warm day!
- 5 cups filtered water
- 3.5 ounces fresh ginger
- 1.5 cups lemon juice
- 0.5 cup honey or other natural sweetener
Make the base for the ginger "tea." To get this, peel and cut the ginger into 1- to 2-inch pieces. Grate or srush if you prefer.
After adding the ginger and filtered water to a pan, raise the heat to a boil, lower the temperature, and simmer for about five minutes.
Wait until the ginger water has completely cooled. Once it's lukewarm, thoroughly stir in your preferred sweetener. It's easier to add honey to a mixture when it's only warmed up a little.
Juice the lemons to prepare the lemon juice. If you have a juicer, you can use it for this; otherwise, you can do it by hand.
Simply blend the ginger tea mixture with the lemon juice in a big jug.
